Availability

I work Monday-Friday, with some early mornings and weekends available.  I currently have space for two clients, as of April 2025.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a "climate aware" counsellor and coach, working with people who have also become aware of climate change, biodiversity loss, & the strong possibility of significant changes to our lives. I also work with people whose lives have already been impacted, and who are traumatised by their experiences.

The changes we're witnessing & experiencing in our world can evoke all kinds of understandable, normal, painful and complex defences, responses & emotions. You might be seeking support for help in managing overwhelm, or with anxiety, distress, or a sense of alienation and isolation from others who don't seem to be as concerned. You may have had a sharp "climate awakening" or may have experienced growing unease and dread that things are not right.

You might be from the world of business, trying hard to make changes to the way your company functions sustainably, yet not convinced it's enough. You might be an activist or a concerned relative of an activist, or a parent or grandparent, worried for the future of those you love.

Whatever brings you to counselling or coaching, I will listen to you without judgement - with me you can break the silence around these issues, silence that might have felt suffocating. I can listen to your worst fears and your best hopes. And I will help you, if you wish, to discover what you can actually do to make a difference. We may find no magic solutions but you're likely to experience relief and find agency as we explore how you feel and how you can best face the future, potentially with courage, kindness, wisdom and resilience.

Practice description

I am a certified Climate Change Coach (Academy of Exec Coaching),  and have many therapeutic and other coaching qualifications. I have specialised in the field  of climate change since 2019 and have undertaken training in working with climate, trauma, neurodiversity and anxiety.

All of my work is underpinned though by the Thinking Environment which ensures that you can bring anything you would like to bring to the sessions, and I will promise to create a space where you can truly think for yourself - you do not only have to bring climate and environmental related issues although of course the environment is with us all the time.

My first session

I work online by Zoom. Firstly, we can arrange a 30 minute session to explore the possibility of working together - there is no charge for this and I will send you a link to my diary after you have contacted me.

If we then agree to go ahead, typically we pre-arrange 6  sessions of 1 or 1.5 hours, to take place weekly, fortnightly or monthly, according to our agreement of your needs.   We will agree a clear contract and review our sessions regularly, to make sure that this is being helpful for you.

Thursdays and Fridays are generally my supervision days. We can arrange weekday early evening or early morning Zooms or calls where needed.  I currently have space for 2 supervisees as at March 2023.

If you live locally we can arrange some or all of our sessions outdoors in nature, after a discussion around accessibility and safety.

About me and my therapy practice

My speciality is "climate aware" supervision for therapy and/or coaching practitioners who are working with clients who have become - possibly painfully - aware of climate change, biodiversity loss, & the seeming (and in some cases, actual), collapse of much of what we used to consider "normal" life.

Some may come to therapy or coaching having had a traumatic "climate awakening", others may have experienced a growing unease. Some may be activists, others may be worried relatives of activists. Some may be trying to influence more widely and finding it hard to stay resilient in the face of silence or indifference.

The changes we're witnessing & experiencing in our world can evoke all kinds of difficult & complex defences, responses & emotions*. Increasingly, people are seeking therapy & coaching for help in managing overwhelm, anxiety, distress, alienation, isolation, exhaustion, rage, fear, a sense of futility, guilt & more, and are looking for ways to find meaning, regain agency, and take action.

In supervision I can provide time & space for you to explore what your clients need from you & how you can meet those, including from the growing range of therapeutic, coaching, climate psychology & ecopsychology ideas, practices & tools.

* Naturally, as we share the same planet as our clients, practitioners can experience the same range of responses; I can help you to contain & channel these, & where needed, help you to seek external support for yourself.

(2021 research on 10,000 children & young people found 59% were very or extremely worried about climate change, 84% moderately worried, & more than 50% reported feeling sad, anxious, angry, powerless, helpless, & guilty. More than 45% said their feelings about climate change negatively affected daily life and functioning).
