About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrative Therapist, and I work with different types of therapy based on what the client requires. I am Person-Centred, Trauma-Informed, Somatic and Psychodynamic in the way that I work, and I also work with the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).
I offer a one hour video call consultation at a set rate of £20, so that potential clients are able to meet me in a way that enables you to see me and for you to decide whether I am a good fit for you as your therapist. During this consultation, you have the opportunity to ask any questions you feel you want to regarding the therapy. We can also discuss anything you would like to bring to therapy. However, this consultation is not a therapy session, just an opportunity for us to get to know one another and what you need from sessions. You are also not expected to book in sessions just because you had the consultation.
There will never be any element of judgement in this consultation, nor in any sessions together.
Practice description
As an Integrative Therapist, I have been trained to understand multiple different modalities, such as Trauma-Informed work, Psychodynamic and Person-Centred, but it also enables me to bring these together to support clients dependant upon their needs. I do not believe one specific type of therapy is 'best', instead I hold the belief that each individual person needs to have their therapy tailored to their individual needs.
The way that I work involves a complete lack of judgement, congruence, unconditional positive regard, empathy, somatic exercises that work with the Nervous System (e.g., Vagus Nerve exercises and breathing work, EFT), and an understanding of how our childhoods/upbringings and our attachment can play a major part in our day-to-day lives as adults.
To me, the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of therapy - feeling comfortable around your therapist is so important, and my main aim with clients is to ensure I provide a comfortable, safe space for them to be exactly who they are, and feel as though they can be their authentic selves with me.
My first session
First sessions can be scary, daunting, anxiety-inducing - all of this is completely normal. My first sessions typically consist of the client and myself getting to know each other. While we may have had the video call consultation, this will be the first real session. Everything will go at the client's pace, and we can start with whatever the client feels comfortable with; we don't have to get straight into the difficult stuff right away.
