About me and my therapy practice
All of my efforts working with clients is to gain a clear understanding of how they feel about themselves when circumstances, relationships, or health concerns challenge them. The arc of one's life will face unpredictability, where responsibilities feel like burdens, relationships lack connection. It is understandable to seek a place to feel safe and secure. Isolation can feel heavier, being stuck in our minds, ruminating on past experiences, questioning belonging, listening to self criticism. I offer clients a warm connection to feel seen, heard and understood. Our therapeutic relationship is authentic, focused on sharing your thoughts and awareness, with no expectation or judgement. Voicing negative thoughts, uncomfortable emotions and difficult memories will bring a mutual understanding why you feel overwhelm, directionless, powerless. I will be with you every step of the way to improve self-esteem, moving from coping towards self direction.Having spent three decades in the fast-paced corporate world, I understand the relentless pressures of high-performance environments, the challenge of maintaining a healthy work-life balance, and the emotional toll of constant decision-making. Now, as a therapist, I provide a professional, and supportive space where you can process these challenges—whether it’s self-doubt, overthinking, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you.
Stress can be difficult to manage. Often stress impairs the connection with people most important to us. Suppressing stress can lead us to present a "false self" to the outside world, or engage in harmful behaviours. The source of stress factors: expectations by others, diminished boundaries, need for validation, fear of exclusion have a compounding affect on mental health and wellbeing. Having your anxieties, identity, depression, addictions, ADHD, or trauma be received with unconditional positive regard builds a foundation where you can begin to see things differently.
Practice description
I listen with empathy and question with curiosity. My approach is active, not sitting back with a blank face or nodding to indicate understanding. I will challenge clients, based on what's been said. If the client rejects my interpretation, we work towards improved mutual understanding. This is the work of therapy. I am trained as an integrative therapist and will draw on different theories to adapt to what the client brings in to the room. The better I understand the client, the more the client will arrive at a deeper and healthier understand of themself.
My first session
When I start with a client, I place importance on maintaining their agency. I want the client to know they have a choice to continue with me, to build trust in me. After the first session, if the client feels comfortable opening up with me, I encourage the client to commit to 6 sessions, allowing our alliance to build which will facilitate the exploration of the issues and uncover the meaning behind their difficulty. What I can help with
