About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced counsellor who provides an empathic, supportive, and non-judgemental space in which an authentic dialogue can develop to explore what's going on for you. I aim to help you navigate your thoughts, feelings, and experiences to deepen your awareness of how it is to be you, where you feel stuck, and how you might like things to be different. I believe that in a safe therapeutic relationship in which you can speak truthfully, you can access your inner resources to help you heal and grow.
I understand how daunting it can be asking for help and sometimes it’s not clear what needs to change in your life to help you feel better. In your own time, we can work together to better understand this.
Often difficulties occur when our early environment hasn’t allowed for us to fully emotionally express or regulate ourselves. You may have developed coping strategies which, over time, can create other problems in yourself and in relationships with others. Part of my job as a counsellor is to help you unpick these patterns which no longer serve you and move towards expressing yourself more authentically within the safety of the therapeutic relationship.
I work relationally which means that I may at times focus on the relationship between us, to check that the space feels right for you, and to explore any relational patterns which may be playing out between us.
Practice description
I work with adults 18+ across a diversity of presenting issues, cultural backgrounds, and identities.
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, loss, low self-esteem, sexual issues, childhood trauma, domestic abuse, and sexual abuse.
My first session
In our first session we will explore what brings you to counselling, your hopes and expectations, a little about your background, and how we might work together.
