About me and my therapy practice
Why come to counselling
People come to counselling for many reasons. You may have a specific issue you would like to work on. You may wish to talk about relationships, self-esteem, identity, anxiety, illness, or bereavement. You may be feeling overloaded, or stuck at work, at home or both, and want things to be different. Whatever you bring I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space in which to talk things through. It can feel a big step coming to counselling but together we can find new ways forward.
What to expect
My therapy is client led. What does that mean for you? In our sessions we will discuss where you are now in life and what you would like to achieve from counselling. To help with this we will consider your beliefs and values and what is important to you. We will talk through how you think and feel, your relationships with others, and how this affects your day to day world.
To support you I will draw on a number different therapeutic approaches. I will always check in with you to understand what is working best for you. We will always work at your pace and to your comfort level.
My therapeutic practice
I have been part of the field of mental health and wellbeing for over 20 years. My counselling practice has supported neurodivergent clients, unpaid carers, those affected by substance misuse, people living with chronic pain and long term health conditions, the LGBTQIA+ community and many others. My clients come from all walks of life and each bring their own unique story.
I am aware it can be painful and challenging to talk with friends or family who are also experiencing a bereavement. Grief can surface at any time, even after many years. Grief can also feel disallowed and loss comes in many forms. As a trained bereavement counsellor I believe there is no universal template for experiencing grief or loss but there are cultural beliefs and expectations and I am here for you.
I look forward to your enquiry and to talking with you soon.
