About me and my therapy practice

Hello! I am Everardo Gutiérrez (Ever—he/him), a qualified psychotherapist in the charity sector, private practice, and clinical settings, including the NHS. I offer short- and long-term counselling and psychotherapy in English and Spanish (online only), helping individuals, couples, and groups navigate life’s challenges.

I offer a compassionate and thoughtful space where clients can explore their emotions, challenges, and personal growth at their own pace. My approach is integrative, meaning I draw from different therapeutic models—including Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Systemic Constellation and Logotherapy—to meet each person’s unique needs. Rather than offering quick fixes, I focus on deep listening, reflection, and collaboration, helping clients gain clarity and reconnect with what truly matters to them.

When someone comes to therapy with me, we begin by exploring their experiences in a safe and non-judgmental environment. Whether they’re struggling with anxiety, loss, relationship difficulties, or a sense of disconnection, I help them make sense of their emotions and patterns. Together, we uncover the roots of their struggles—whether they stem from past wounds, internalised beliefs, or life transitions—while also identifying new perspectives and possibilities for growth.

Practice description

Therapy with me is about more than understanding problems and diagnosis; it’s about discovering meaning, fostering resilience, and making lasting changes. I provide a warm, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions with genuine support. My role is not to impose solutions but to walk alongside you, helping you make sense of your experiences and uncover the inner resources needed to move forward.

Every person’s journey is unique, so I take an integrative approach with an intersectional and inclusive lens. I specialise in supporting people from multicultural backgrounds, the LGBTQ+ community and family relationships. I acknowledge the impact of gender, culture, power, and systemic influences on mental health. I also recognise that emotional well-being is not separate from identity, power, and marginalisation issues. My work integrates a deep awareness of how race, gender, culture, neurodiversity, and socioeconomic background shape psychological experiences.

Expect therapy to be a collaborative process in which we explore patterns, question limiting beliefs, and create space for growth and transformation. I will listen deeply, challenge you when needed, and offer insights that help you connect with yourself meaningfully. Over time, therapy becomes a process of unfolding, learning to sit with emotions rather than avoid them, and stepping into a life that more fully aligns with who you are and what truly matters to you.

My first session

Your first session with me is free of charge, allowing us to get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy. We can discuss your concerns, expectations, and what you hope to achieve. You can also ask questions about my approach and see if we can work together.

Before our first meeting, I usually ask clients to complete some forms and assessments to help me understand their background, current challenges, and the areas they’d like to focus on. These provide a helpful starting point for our work and allow us to make the most of our time together.

As part of my practice, I record all sessions with clients. This is done for ethical and professional reasons, ensuring that I maintain the highest standard of care. Recording allows me to review sessions when necessary, ensuring accuracy in my thoughts and deeper reflection on the therapeutic process. It also enhances transparency and accountability in our work. Confidentiality is always a priority—these recordings are securely stored and never shared, in full compliance with professional guidelines and data protection regulations.

During the first session, I will listen to your story, offer initial reflections, and discuss how therapy might support you. There is no pressure to commit immediately—this session is about creating a safe and open space to begin exploring your journey at your own pace. If we continue working together, we will agree on a plan that suits your needs, including session frequency and practical arrangements.
