About me and my therapy practice

91×ÔÅÄ

I work with adults at all stages of life, from leaving home for the first time to settling into retirement and beyond.

My initial training was in psychodynamic psychotherapy. Since then, I have also completed EMDR training, fully accredited by the EMDR Europe Association. These two approaches allow for greater integration between the body and mind, facilitating a successful therapeutic experience.

One of the key decisions when choosing a therapist is finding one who is the right fit for you. To help with this, I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation, which can be booked via the link below:

My career began in the NHS, where I spent 14 years supporting individuals with a broad range of physical and emotional difficulties.

My time in hospitals and general practice led me to believe that mental health extends far beyond a diagnosis, sparking my interest in a more holistic approach to well-being. I obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling from Brighton University in 2016, followed by a Master's in Psychotherapy in 2018.

Alongside my private practice, I work with students in a university setting, providing short-term, focused therapy to support them through key transitional stages of life.

I have a particular interest in the impact of emotionally overwhelming life events on mental health. As such, I help my clients understand their feelings of anxiety and develop tools to manage them, while also exploring the underlying causes of their distress. In our initial meetings, we can discuss which therapeutic approach would suit you best—talking therapy, EMDR, or a combination of both.

Practice description

Therapy is an active and collaborative process. In our sessions, we will work together to understand the factors that led you to seek support and to identify your goals for the future. For some, therapy is an opportunity to explore and transform the way they relate to themselves and others; for others, it may be a journey towards greater peace and acceptance. Once we have clarified your goals, we will move at a pace that feels comfortable and right for you.

I often use CBT and mindful techniques in our early sessions to give my client tools to cope with anxiety both in the therapy space and to use between sessions.

It is common for the initial anxiety about seeking support to evolve into a sense of relief, as you find a safe space to process complex emotions, thoughts, and beliefs. Through this exploration, you may gain deeper understanding and insight, which can help reduce the overwhelming nature of these feelings. The aim is for this calmer, more balanced state of mind to create a space in which meaningful change  can emerge; both in the way you relate to yourself and in your relationships with others.

My first session

It is important that you choose a therapist who feels like the right fit for you.

I offer a free 15 minute phone call that allows us to discuss what therapy might look like and to discuss timings for an initial assesment session.
