About me and my therapy practice
Hello and Welcome
Overwhelmed or struggling to cope with anxiety or worry around relationship difficulties or workplace stress?
ADHD/ASD/AuDHD
I have spent more than 10 years+ working with people and carers when their lives have become unmanageable and may want a space to reflect and navigate a way forwards.
I often work with people affected by addiction including adult sons and daughters.
We are all relational people
Life is about relationships and how we make sense of them – primarily ourselves and others (either at home or work), or with our past, current, and future experiences. Relationships can be nurturing and rewarding...
But
Sometimes life events, such as betrayal/affairs- separation and divorce, workplace stress/ job loss or bereavement can be difficult to successfully handle alone.
We may disconnect from ourselves or others to avoid facing a situation or turn to alcohol and other forms of addictive behaviours when we feel hurt and wounded or betrayed in our relationships.
Your most important relationship is with yourself . It sets the tone for every relationship you have
You are not alone
I work face-to-face with adults, like you, who are ready to embrace change in their lives, or who are currently experiencing anxiety or worry or feeling down with life’s challenges.
I offer sessions online, by phone and in person to safely support people. I am also comfortable offering a hybrid way of working combining psychotherapy and coaching.
I focus on the practicalities and the emotional side of behaviours in all aspects of emotional relating, interpersonal awareness and effectiveness beginning with knowledge of oneself.
Practice description
My key purpose is to facilitate, encourage and support your self-examination and self-reflection within a safe nurturing environment.
This often allows individuals to safely explore and understand how past events and relationships can influence their current feelings and behaviours.
We always go at your pace. It's your time.
I work with whatever you bring.
My first session
The decision to start counselling is an important one and requires your commitment and consistency.
In the first session I find out about you and your reasons to come to therapy now.
The developing relationship between you and me is integral to therapy .
You need to feel safe and to sense that you can trust sharing feelings ,thoughts and events with me.
- Our first session is a time to ask any questions and an opportunity to talk openly about what brings you to therapy.
- It is also an opportunity to see if working with me will be helpful and how we can work together.
- During this session, I will clarify practicalities such as the time of sessions and fees.
