About me and my therapy practice

Please note I work online and in Sevenoaks, Kent only. 

I'm a fully qualified and experienced therapist with a deep passion for working with a range of RELATIONSHIP CHALLENGES. 

Firstly, you can expect me to be straightforward. I'll share with you openly yet gently what I think is really going on. You can expect to gain insight into your challenges, and to be supported in how to create change. 

Here are some examples of the relationship challenges I work with: 

- you’re a couple repeatedly having the same argument, and are at a loss as to how to resolve it. It’s wearing you both down, and creating a negative cycle that you feel stuck in it. 

- you’re experiencing lack of connection and sexual desire in your relationship and wondering if this is it now. You might feel dread trying to work on this, but you also feel it’s important. 

- you’ve been single for a long time and have little or no relationship or sexual experience. You worry that there’s something wrong with you, or it’s never going to happen for you. 

- you’re overwhelmed with constant anxious thoughts about your relationship, and keep ruminating about whether it’s the right relationship for you. It’s exhausting you and you’re unable to focus on much else. 

-²â´Ç³Ü’r±ð about to get married and you want to have the best possible relationship. You want to work through some challenges you can see now, before they get bigger.

I find that by exploring your personal history we can often discover the root cause of your challenges so you can get out of your own way and begin enjoying deeper intimacy and connection.

Your therapy is tailored to you. It isn't a programme out of a book. It is a unique relationship between us. Your therapy is informed by everything I've learnt about you with the aim of using this to enrich and challenge you & your relationship. 

There's not much that shocks me. I'm robust, yet warm. I also have a healthy dose of humour which can be surprisingly useful when we're broaching tricky or taboo topics.

Practice description

I work with individuals and couples.

I completed a 3-year full time post graduate training in Psychosynthesis Counselling, as well as a Certificate in Couples Therapy which is approved by COSRT (College of Sexual & Relationship Therapy).

My training included all the major psychological models; and it also focused on not just removing your problems or symptoms (although this is obviously valuable and what brings you here) but on cultivating a way of being in relationships and life that brings you greater joy, connection and meaning.

I do work with a variety of issues besides relationships; so, you're still very welcome to get in touch if something else about my profile resonates with you and you would like to consider working together.


My first session

If you're interested in starting therapy, please drop me an email or a text. You can expect me to reply either on the same day or next day (excluding weekends). Please check your junk folder as emails sometimes go here. 

I also offer a free 15-minute phone consultation for you to get a sense of me and ask any questions. 

I am unable to take unscheduled calls but you're very welcome to get in touch to arrange a consultation at a time that works for us both.

The first session is about understanding what brings you to therapy. It is an opportunity for you to tell me exactly what is troubling you in as much detail as you find comfortable. It can feel like you're 'downloading' to me. We will also talk about what you can expect from the process. You are encouraged to voice any anxieties and questions about the process. 

Once the decision is made to work together I will discuss our working agreement. This agreement will outline the confidential nature of the sessions, the cancellation policy and establish our commitment to working together in regular weekly sessions. We may decide to work together for a set number of sessions or in an open-ended contract. This will vary depending on both the issue you are bringing and what you wish to get out of therapy. We will discuss this and agree on it together. 

The second session is where I take a complete history of you. I will ask you about your prior therapy, childhood, key relationships etc. This will give me a context in which to understand you. We will also discuss and agree on our therapeutic goals together. 

I will take notes in both the first and second sessions as this is something I will refer back to. 

In following sessions, usually you'll be invited to talk about whatever is on your mind and I will be there to listen and help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings and understand how they relate to the goal we are working on. Sometimes I might suggest topics if I think that will be useful.
