About me and my therapy practice

Hello and Welcome.

 I offer one-to-one counselling and psychotherapy on a short-term, long-term, or open-ended basis.

I specialise in supporting individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, perinatal and health-related challenges. I also work with issues such as low confidence,  childhood difficulties, stress-related symptoms, life transitions, family concerns,  phobias, and general emotional distress.

I have worked across NHS, private, and third-sector services, supporting Individuals with a wide range of concerns. Clients describe me as warm, kind, and easy to talk to.

My approach helps you explore and make sense of emotional pain, often rooted in early life—to gain insight, heal, and feel more empowered in the present.

I have particular experience with clients who struggle to form or sustain intimate relationships and those facing reproductive challenges. I also hold a strong interest in identity, belonging, and race. I work inclusively and sensitively with people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds.

I understand how important it is to find the right therapist, so I offer an informal, no-pressure chat to discuss your needs and answer any questions.

Clinical Qualifications

I received and hold an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from Birkbeck College, University of London,  one of the leading academic and clinical college institutions for psychotherapy in the UK.

I also hold and have received an BSc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the School of Psychology at the University of East London.

Practice description

Counselling and Psychotherapy are forms of talking therapies where you can access emotional support. You can speak freely, reflect on your thoughts, emotions, feelings, desires, needs and fears without judgement. Being open in this way may help uncover vulnerable feelings that have been displaced out of conscious awareness. We work collaboratively to discover patterns of thoughts (both conscious and unconscious) and emotions that may be causing you distress/difficulty or affecting how you deal with relationships with others. As we reach an understanding what may be causing this, you both work together to explore new ways that may be helpful to bring about a positive change in order that you feel more equipped to deal with the issues that are uniquely affecting your life.

My work is primarily informed by the psychodynamic approach

Psychodynamic is made up of two words from Ancient Greek: ‘psyche’ - the soul -and dynamis - power or capability.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Involves working towards understanding how past relationships and events have impacted on your relationships and life choices, this helps me gain more insight in order to help you at a deeper in-depth level that, which is out of your awareness. Psychoanalysis has developed its own specialist language to describe the unconscious communications between one human being and another. Being with another person involves an exchange of feelings not only at a conscious level, but also at an unconscious one.  Psychodynamic  psychotherapy, is used to describe the powerful unconscious forces within the mind, that is to say, not just the thinking, rational mind of which we are aware,  the inner world within us, made up of ideas, phantasies, and perceptions that are unavailable to our conscious selves.

My first session

The initial consultation is a chance for you and I to get to know each other better. In this session I am interested in learning about you, your lived experience, what has brought you to therapy and what you would possibly like to achieve.

I would also like to know a little about your history (your past and present circumstances). The first session is sixty minutes in duration and is treated as an initial consultation.

Practice description

Sometimes life can hurl challenges our way that can leave us feeling drained, confused or disconnected. At other times, our thoughts and emotions may feel disproportionate to the events that triggered them, or seem to arise without any clear cause.

I work with a psychodynamic approach, which explores both conscious and unconscious aspects of feelings and behaviour. This approach helps us understand ourselves and others by linking past experiences with present thoughts and emotions, and can help us in resolving what may be troubling or disturbing us.

My first session

The first  consultation is an opportunity to discuss your needs and get to know each other better. It lasts sixty minutes. If we decide to work together, we shall arrange a regular day and time each week for our sessions.

I understand that finding the right therapist can feel daunting, and there’s no pressure to commit immediately. We can arrange an informal phone chat to see how we bond, where you can freely share your concerns, needs, and any questions you may have. I would be delighted to hear from you.

I work with the following insurers - Cigna, AXA, Vitality health and Aetna.
