Research Study on Sexual Minority Individuals Recently Diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
We are seeking participants for a research study exploring the experiences of sexual minority individuals who have been recently diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). The study aims to investigate how the diagnosis of IBD may influence the identity of sexual minority individuals and whether sexual orientation plays a role in their experience of IBD.
Study Overview: This study seeks to give voice to an underrepresented population and to gain insights that could improve therapy practices and support for individuals who have both IBD and sexual minority identities.
Eligibility Criteria: To participate, you must meet the following criteria:
- Located in the UK
- Aged 18 years or older
- Identify with any sexual orientation other than heterosexual (e.g., gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, pansexual, asexual, demisexual)
- Diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (e.g., Crohn鈥檚 Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Microscopic Colitis) within the last 24 months
- Speak English
Study Details: Participants will take part in a one-off remote interview, lasting approximately 1 hour. The interview will focus on your personal experience of being diagnosed with IBD, any changes in identity post-diagnosis, and the specific challenges or experiences you face as a sexual minority individual living with IBD.
Please Note: The interview will be audio recorded for research purposes. All recordings will be kept confidential and used solely for the purpose of this study.
Compensation: All participants will receive a 拢15 Amazon voucher as a token of appreciation for their time and contribution.
