The Special Interest Group (SIG) for supervision was initiated by the BACP Coaching Division Executive based on the recognition that supervision is fundamental to the professional development of therapists and coaches alike.
The SIG has been running since January 2020 and is striving to raise the profile of dual practitioner supervisors and their role within 91自拍 This shall be achieved by promoting the creation of a centre of excellence for dual practitioner professionals that includes supporting existing and trainee supervisors. The SIG aims to promote the role of supervision by:
- increasing visibility for dual practitioner supervisors within BACP
- promoting the role of dual practitioner supervisors and creating a network of dual practitioner supervisors within BACP
- hosting regular meetings as a means of demonstrating best practice in supervision and raising awareness of the challenges faced by dual practitioner supervisors
We currently spend 60 to 90 minutes on Zoom every two months and our membership includes experienced dual practitioners who are developing our understanding of supervision theory and practice. We regularly invite accomplished authors and practitioners as guest speakers who inform us of developments in the field and discuss issues relating to supervision.
I've contributed to articles on supervision in the Coaching Today journal in the past and intend to have regular features in the journal that informs our understanding of supervision for dual practitioners.
I'm currently collaborating with other coaching related bodies and organisations such as the Association for Coaching (AC) and European Mentoring & Coaching Council (EMCC) on supervision related initiatives.
As we're currently looking to expand our membership of the SIG, please do get in touch if you're interested in joining. You can contact me at divisions@bacp.co.uk
